Travel in packs. After watching Blue Planet I wondered why fish swam together in packs. Obvious reasons are to have each other's backs in times of danger and when foraging for food. New research suggests that it's built into their genes. This visualization simulates that school behavior. When you introduce a new species into the mix notice how they gradually navigate towards each other. Additionally, your mouse acts as a source of food, notice how they flock to the pointer when you hover over a school of fish. To create this visualization I read about the flocking algorithm and modified this gist. Many thanks!
